It's that time of year again!

Post your top ten of favourite studio albums of 2007!

01. Neal Morse - Sola Scriptura
02. Magic Pie - Circus Of Life
03. Porcupine Tree - Fear Of A Blank Planet
04. Sylvan - Presets
05. Threshold - Dead Reckoning
06. Blackfield - Blackfield II
07. Gazpacho - Night
08. Kaipa - Angling Feelings
09. Hidria Spacefolk - Symetria
10. Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos

To be honest I only bought ten 2007-albums this year, so it's not too difficult for me...
As soon as I heard Neal Morse's album I knew it would be the best in my list, and indeed, no other band has stopped him from being number one.
And I really want to recommend Magic Pie to everybody who hasn't heard them yet. They are amazing!

-Paco

Appelmoes??

I don't think I'll make a list for 2007. I haven't bought that many albums. (in comparison with other years that is...)
For some good reading visit:""Fluffy Kittens of DOOM"!

I will post a top list of 2007 but it won't end with 10 albums i'm afraid.  :-\  ;D
Cause of Injury: Lack of Adhesive Ducks.

Teunis

01. Knight Area - Under a New Sign
02. Steve Thorne - Part Two: Emotional Creatures
03. Riverside - Rapid Eye Movement
04. Amaran's Plight - Voice in the Light
05. Darkwater - Calling the Earth to Witness
06. Gazpacho - Night
07. Sylvan -   Presets
08. Satellite - Into The Night
09. Kamelot - Ghost Opera
10. Blackfield - Blackfield II
11. Neal Morse - Sola Scriptura

Sorry it has become a Top Eleven, but I couldn't decide which one to leave out  ;D.
'I will surrender my heart to the sky
Oh, our love doesn't end here, it lives forever on the wings of time'
-------------------------------------------------------
Toto - Wings of time (Kingdom of Desire)

The Butterfly Man

Okay, here's my top ten:

1: Porcupine Tree - Fear Of A Blank Planet
  2: Circus Maximus - Isolate
3: Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos
  4: Threshold - Dead Reckoning
  5: Blackfield - Blackfield II
6: Pain Of Salvation - Scarsick
  7: Marillion - Somewhere Else
  8: Symphony X - Paradise Lost
  9: Sylvan - Presets
10: Abigails Ghost - Selling Insincerity

Phew that was so hard! 2007 has seen so many fantastic releases that it is pure torture to 'only' make a top ten! Therefore I could not include albums from Neal Morse, Knight Area, Oceansize, Riverside, Redemption, Pure Reason Revolution and Three, to name only a few.

Tom
There will be white clouds beyond the hills...

Bupie

It will be just a top three cause I didn't listen to so many 2007 albums and some of them were forgettable to say the least ...

1. Dream Theater - Systematic Chaos
2. Nightwish - Dark Passion Play
3. The Reasoning - Awakening

OK guys, here's my attempt:

1.   DT:  Systematic Chaos
2.   SyX:  Paradise Lost
3.   Kamelot:  Ghost Opera
4.   Sieges Even:  Paramount
5.   Gary Hughes:  Veritas
6.   Neal Morse:  Sola Scriptura
7.   Redemption:  The Origins Of Ruin
8.   Pain Of Salvation:  Scarsick
9.   Circus Maximus:  Isolate
10. 3:  The End Is Begun

Yes, Tom, 2007 was another year of many great albums !

Paco, I agree with you that Sola Scriptura is a masterpiece. And Paul Gilbert's classic solo in Upon The Door has raised him into the pantheon of guitarists.

I dont know where Erik is currently, but Erik, if you've gone over to hip-hop, or become Muslim, or whatever, I hope you get my Thanks for tipping me so persuasively to King Crimson and Rush. The Power To Believe (from 2003) was the biggest surprise for me in 2007  *horns*

And Bupie, yes, I'v started enjoying wine more. And no, it hasnt made me less prog  :D

Edit 071230:  Blue murder !  How could I forget Isolate ?  OK, added it now.

Edit 080107:  Listened properly to Ghost Opera and Veritas. Consequently some great albums had to yield to Genius on my list.

Hey, comon, Mad, dont tell me that you only like listening to baby-crying nowadays.

And John, how about barking up this tree ?

And Bupie, you can do better than that !

Frankly, with 2007 albums, no. I could only list albums that I don't like much so it would be pointless to put them in a "Top Ten"  :P

So you either didn't listen to or didn't like:
Porcupine Tree's Fear Of A Blank Planet
Sylvan's Presets
Magic Pie's Circus Of Life

Just asking...

... not to mention all the fabulous albums that I listed.

Guys, I was just lucky to find The End Is Begun in Malmö Skivhandel  *horns*

I'd been looking around for it for a loooooong time. But slowly the 3-gospel is spreading, even on this side of the ocean.

It's even better than I expected, and I had very high expections from the two songs I'd heard on MySpace. It'l prob move up my list, but let's give it some runs first. Tremendous album  *horns*

I'm sure that even Bupie will like it once he gets out of his hibernation  ;D

Nicky.

I just didn't have the opportunity to listen to a single a note of those three albums. Same thing for Neal Morse's last. That's part of the explanation for my so short list, I guess ...

You must be Mad !

They've been around since 1994, and they'v put out five studio albums, of which The End is Begun is the latest, and surprisingly also nb 5  :D

But I'm happy that we agree on everything else  ;)

True but what i meant, and i agree that i didn't say it right, that it was one of the top debuts for me this year, since i've never heard of them prior to this release.  ;)

Sorry for the misunderstanding.  :D
