Just to get the ball rolling...

Pendragon - Victims Of Life:

"Among the woods and the trees,
And all the other moss-able things..."

(correct lyric= and all the other possible things)

i.e. other things that could be covered in / grow moss...

...apart from a rolling stone, obviously...  ;)

"Mama, just viewed the land"

actual lyric: "Mama, just killed a man..."

The girlfriend of a good mate of mine who wasn't into rock music (that's the g/friend, not the mate) mis-heard the 'famous' AC/DC track/lyric as:

"dirty deeds done to sheep"  ::)

Curiously she accepted it as ok  (must be a Northerner thing), and didn't actually comment on it at the time or for years since and it only came out in a drunken conversation many years later.  :-[

(this is actually the same person who, early morning and without her glasses, tried to kill a slug on the garden path by sprinkling salt on it - which would have been fine had it not been a cat turd)  ;D  ::)

I'm German, so this list would prolly be endless, if only i wouldn't have swamped out the memory of it... :P

Ayreon - To the Quasar:

"To the Gaybaaaaaaaar, beyond the milkyway
the redshift is high, a bright light in the sky"

The milkyway would be another bar
the redshift the redlight district :o

But this doesn't sound very Arjen like ;D Still, looks funny though...

Another Ayreon great:

Actual lyrics: Demons dance in the castle hall

And I heard: Demons dance in the casserole

A song about really bad cooking?

Only last year, I discovered that the chorus in Do They Know It's Christmas is: "Feed The World", whereas I always sang "People, whoooooo"....  ;D

Queen has been mentioned...and from Bohemian Rhapsody, we are proud to offer:

I see a little silhouetto of a man
Scaramouche, Scaramouche, will you do the Fandango
Thunderbolt and lightning, very, very fright'ning me
(Galileo.) Galileo. (Galileo.) Galileo, Galileo figaro
Magnifico. I'm just a poor boy and nobody loves me
He's just a poor boy from a poor family
Spare him his life from these pork sausages

(Real Lyric - this monstrosity)

Fried chicken instead, anyone...?

to war
It's America we need - America
.... we're all waiting for today"

/maybe it was a political thing, ... or I was brainwashed as a teenager ;D /

As we all know Neil Peart of Rush is an excellent lyricist, however I did find myself wanting some of what he was on when I heard a line in the tune 'Driven' as 'Driven to the edge of a geetar chord'.

I accepted this as perfectly ok for a while, but then perusing the lyrics one day I discovered it was actually 'Driven to the edge of a deep dark hole'.   :-[ ;D

Half Moon

This is a misunderstanding that I had just a few weeks ago. I got the promo copy of Echolyn's new CD "The End Is Beautiful" (as a promo it didn't have any lyrics in the booklet). So when I did an interview with the band I asked: "Don't you find the lyrics "there's no life worth living" very dark and pessimistic?" And Ray answered: "Well, the lyrics are quite dark, but the line you're referring to actually reads "there's no lie worth believing".

Actually this is still a line that keeps repeating in my head - and I just love the song "Georgia Pine" as well as the whole album and can't wait to see Echolyn live! What a great weekend - first Echolyn in The Metropool/Hengelo on Thursday and then Arena at The Boerderij/Zoetermeer on Friday  ;D

More of the Queen menu (for gourmets only - still referring to old pork sausages ;D )

(...) Buddy you’re an old man poor man...Gonna make you some beef someday...

(...)I've paid my dues -
Time after time -
I've done my sentence
But committed no crime -
You baked me steaks, I ate a few (...)

One that bothers me big time.
Still does.

Solar - Dark Places

Atrophy

"Add your fear right in, in your mushrooms at your skin."

actual lyric:
"Atrophy sets in, through your muscles and your skin."

PH

Another one:

Dream Theater - Octavarium

Never Enough

"Sacrifice my life, but let my kids and wife offer you to be happy"

actual lyric:

"Sacrifice my life, neglect my kids and wife all for you to be happy"

Well... they both made sense :-\

Emilia

more Q. stuff came to my mind...(champagne lovers forgive me  ;))

...She keeps moving a shovel
In her pretty cabinet...(..)

Original Lyrics:
...She keeps Moet et Chandon
In her pretty cabinet... (..)

As long as it's not "let me offer you my wife...to be happy"... that would be.... kinda weird.

From the very beginning of my addiction to Rush, my favorite album Moving pictures, the amazing "Tom Sawyer" back in 1981:

a monday warrior,  mean mean stride...

of course

a modern day warrior,...

Geddy sings the two syllables in one so this may be forgiven for a german boy at the age of 16.

Still I´m a monday warrior sometimes trying to force myself to get up in the morning !!  ;D

Changes aren´t permanent - but change is !

LOL  :D

You're not on your own with Geddy's singing - especially without a lyric sheet  ;D

Take care beware

Should be
Watch out now
Take care beware
Of thoughts that linger

Because he had goodness
Because he was moral
They called him insane
