Actually, you do. ;)
Sort off.

His work with Genesis stands out without question.
His solo work however, does little to me.
Only his Genesis-tribute albums (I and II) are worth to listen to, in my humble opinion.

Each to his own opinion, of course. ;)

Sacrilege! :o
;)

I'd say his first two solo albums are a must have for any Genesis enthusiast.
Also, I remember having heard "To Watch The Storms" and being pleasantly surprised.

Inducted Immortal to my pantheon  *horns*

It's been a real long journey with them. I first listened to them some years ago. Their music seemed very thrashy monotonous, and their dress-up gaudy. Until I experienced them at Copenhell. Very intense and fulfilling ! My friend Fona Mads told me to get Sons Of Northern Darkness, which I did. After a few runs in the open, I decided to listen to them with earphones, and cranked up the volume ... and what an adventure !

They'r very Norwegian. The lyrics are about their proud legacy and their will to keep their independence. The music reflects the looong dark winters, and then the sun rises above the mountains and lights up the dramatic landscape. They'v carved out a niche in metal that can initially seem rather monotonous, but with repeated listens, the experience really overwhelms  8)

Yes, Teunis, you have always been very forthcoming. Altho my tastes in music differ more from yours than most Roomies', you have more often been willing to try out my proposals. You know what the word "share" means  :)

Definitely a fine band.  I'm off to see Steve Winwood in 13 days time, not quite the same thing I know, but the lineage is there 8)

That concert at Copenhell, man, one of the best concerts I'v experienced  *horns*

Got me into listening to my Come Clarity (2006), and Reroute to Remain (2002), and this time it really clicked  8)

Gotta get the newest now: Sounds of a Playground Fading (2011), and A Sense of Purpose (2008).

Slipknot -> Prog pantheon

Took quite some time for me. These guys are definitely at the cutting edge of metal. Very heavy and jarring, but also surprisingly melodic, and the lyrics, donna quite yet, iac above average .....  *horns*

Probably removes me even further from you guys  :-\

Well in my case I have to admit I have drifted quite far from metal lately. But there's only so much to listen to, there'll always be a common ground. ;)

Well, to my mind there's quite a lot to listen to. My assessment is that I'v listened seriously to over 2000 groups the past 10 years, and there are still many that I havent quite got to, like in my "List to check".

But yes, Draco, you and I have quite some common ground, including Arena and Linkin Park  :)

Outworld -> Pantheon

I clicked to the reviews in Metal Archives of their sole full studio album, self-titled, and noticed that there were two 100%, two 99%, one 97% etc, and headings like "The best album ever created!", "This is awesome!" etc - and these are senior metal reviewers ! - so naturally my curiosity was roused  ???

And yes, very much satisfied, and enthused. Initially it sounds somewhat raw ... but after a few runs - whooee  *horns*

Jonesey, can you join me with this one  ;)

Probably Funky too, and maybe Mad and Iggy ....  :)

I will give this some investigation, Mr. Nick. ;)

The youtube link you provided is good, but nothing special.
Maybe that'll change. ;)

Disillusion -> Prog pantheon

Disillusion are one of the most innovative and exciting groups around.

They'r from Leipzig. This city got one of the worst deals under communism. I guess all this shit has really progressed to somethin now  *horns*

With so many 'gods' in your pantheon, there's noone left to worship. Besides, it's getting pretty crowded up there. Aren't they arguing who's the highest?

 ;) Paxi

I got a good answer to that: "The more you love music, the more music you love" !

Guess I'm pretty crazy about music  ;)

I worship them all. I'm deeply into all of my pantheon groups.

The greatest of'm all - in recent times - is of course Outworld I  *horns* *horns* *horns*

And I sure am wondering why no other Roomie is listenin to'm  ???

Is it cuz you'r afraid of losing your footing ? cuz that's what's gonna happen ....  ;)

And Teunis, there's about ten seconds of growl in it - so that should be overcomable - else be prepared for a wild ride  :)

But Disillusion and Hacride are pretty well up there too  8)

It's a really nice album, but remember that everyone responds in a different manner to the same music. I like it and it has something special for sure, but I don't think it's that much ground breaking as you stated. Same goes for Marillion for instance. Most people like it, but you don't. It doesn't mean that you, or Marillion is wrong.

After having listened to Seasons End some 5-6 times, I actually quite like it. The Space... even made it to my "Classic songs" list  8)

I'll do the same with my other H-Marillion albums. Jonesey lost his marbles to Marbles, and his opinion does mean quite somethin to me  :)

But nothin near groundbreaking as Outworld I is. Paxi, this is an album one has to hear five times thru before making any real sense of it  ;)

Thanx, Paxi, I'v heard it before  :o

Some of you might be happy to know that I inducted Guilt Machine into my Prog Pantheon, and three of the songs On This Perfect Day (which it is for GM) to my Classic Songs - check'm up  *horns*

I'm truly impressed: Lots of good melody, intensity, atmosphere, interesting lyrics, and I'm very much impressed by Jasper Steverlinck' singing - he masters the English language and has a lot of expression, wonder where he comes from (Marshland, of course, but I mean musically)  8)

And I'm still ahead of you, Paxi, with the length of my LP (both Long P* and Listening Profile thread)  ;D
