Oh, that wasn't nice  :(
Nope, it wasn't - but we wouldn't expect anything else from you, Nicky.  ;)

PH

Rather a pig than a cheese hater!

Now playing (trying once again... hopelessly...):
The Flower Kings - Paradox Hotel
2. Monsters & Men

This song is acceptable, but after this one it goes really downhill...

I think Enchant is an underrated band over here in Europe.  8)
You should listen to their latest, Live At Last (yep indeed, a live album  :P).
It truly is an anthology of their best work.  *horns*
A great life album.

Actually, I am thinking of getting the DVD version as a self-christmas gift (and maybe on advance ;)) but it's rather hard to find it at a reasonable price in region 2 format. So far, I only have Blue Print of the World and Tug of War.

Teunis, how would you describe Damian Wilson's solo album?

Don't expect the Threshold side of Damian  ;). It's high quality music, most of the time ballads. You can hear instruments like cello, violin, piano, trumpet, trombone and oboe on the album. When you're in the right mood, it's very enjoyable  ;D. He is my all-time favourite Ayreon singer and his voice suits this kind of music perfectly. You can read reviews on the following links:

Maybe Appelmoes?? will add a few things ...  ;)

Thanks Teunis.

So nothing Thresholdishly there. A bit of Landmarq influence perhaps? Or should our eyes be directed towards the radio if we want to look for the influence?

(Nothing directly wrong with that of course)

A bit like Ray Wilson perhaps?
Will check out the reviews in a minute.

Teunis

Don't know any influences, the best way is hearing it on his official website:
http://www.damianwilson.com/index.htm
Go to 'music' and then the album 'Cosmas'. The opening track is so beautiful.
'I will surrender my heart to the sky
Oh, our love doesn't end here, it lives forever on the wings of time'

Toto - Wings of time (Kingdom of Desire)

Teunis

Just played Toto - The Seventh One

np: Marillion - Brave

Some nice tracks, but I have to admit that I'm not a real Marillion fan  :-[ :-\

You are sooo right, I heard him perform this song live, at the Stream of Passion/Ayreon tour... gives me goosebumps! Great stuff... Will need to get that album, methinks. So, thanks for the hint :)
Arriving somewhere, but not here....

You're welcome. And you have to thank PH as well, he was the one who was curious and asked me  ;D *horns*.

Now Playing:

Johann Sebastian Bach - Brandenburg Concerto - Allegro 2

Haaaaa... very nice. I really want to bath in more of this kind of music.
I remember that we used to listen to this kind of music on a sunday afternoon (just after we got back from church).
My dad always put this kind of music on.

Lovely!

Well, Brave is not the easiest way to get into Marillion. I found this album completely bland for 13 years before beginning to like it. Considering the H era, Holidays in Eden, though too poppy for some people, should please you more. Get the 2 CD's reedition cause there are really some gems on CD2.

Actually, Brave is the album that got me into (H era) Marillion (I was already a fan of the Fish period albums).. It's still my all-time favourite Marillion album and all-time favourite album in general. It also contains my all-time favourite track, The Great Escape. It's a lot to digest, but well worth it and if the spark hits you it stays. It would have been flawless if they hadn't put Paper Lies on, but well, there aren't (m)any flawless albums (Dark Side Of The Moon and Contagion are, but Selling England for instance should have come without The Battle Of Epping Forest..).

I really like The Battle Of Epping Forest. It's I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe) that makes me reach for the skip button.
The Battle Of Epping Forest is lyrically a very good effort, since Peter Gabriel can sing all the words without falling over his tongue. It's also a very nice lyric to learn by heart. ;D

It has its moments, but I agree with Tony Banks' comment that I read in the Chapter & Verse biography, they tried to put too many ideas together, as a song it doesn't really work (now you could say that this describes the problem critics and non-proggies have with prog in general ::) , but that's not what I'm implying, Supper's Ready for instance is longer and combines much more ideas, but that one does work). I Know What I Like is a fun track, but Epping Forest takes the flow out of the album and that's why I skip it.

Good, Bups, you struck on one of the two killer songs. The other is the title song Imagine. The other songs snuggle nicely into place after while, and you start realising that you'v reached the end of the rainbow  ;)

Give me your take ........ after the tenth run !!!  :-X
