Yup, looks like you got it right now, valentinel.

You got some strange figures in the beginning of your post, but that probably wont have further consequences, and you started your topic under the wrong heading (Arena Concerts), but we'll bear over with that.

Welcome to the Room ! Hope you'l enjoy your visits here  :)

Some of us have been around for years  ;)

There are so many things I want to say to this, but since it's our new member's topic, we don't want to give him/her the wrong right idea about how strange we are.  Suffice it to say that I don't want to know what Nicky did with the bear.   ::)

When I visit the Room, I always get loaded for bear, all three steps:

loaded for bear
1. Informal angry. He left here in a rage. He was really loaded for bear. When I got home from work, I was really loaded for bear. What a horrible day!
2. Informal drunk. (An elaboration of loaded, which means "drunk.") By the end of the party, Bill was loaded for bear. The whole gang drank for an hour until they were loaded for bear.
3. American Inf. ready and eager to deal with something that is going to be difficult Their team came out onto the field, loaded for bear, but our defense stopped them.

Yup, we'l make ya a discussion outta anythin, Cap, as long as you keep the boat a-sailin  :D

Thanks for removing the intruders  :)

They were beginning to get at me, particularly the stupid Valentinel, who at first seemed sincere, but then turned out to be a total shit  >:(

In fact I thought further:

Three questions for applicants:

1) What are the names of the members of Arena ?  (If they don't get it 100% right (e.g. the singer), then bear over with'm)

2) Describe Arena music in brief.

3) What do you like about Arena ?

After all, this is officially an Arena chatforum, so one may expect such basic knowledge and attitude  ???

Whadaya think, guys ?

Nicky.

One question that would make the bots/spammers utterly crazy and head off into the digital forest is of course:

What's the difference between men and women?

;D

Actually, I could switch the registration to "admin approval", like that we'd get rid of the spammers ... thinking about that now... for a while ... ;)

Which would mean more work for you, i guess.  ;)

It might help though.

There's also the possibility of a box with letters and numbers in it. I know how it's called yet i've forgotten it for now.  ::) :-[ ;)
Bots will hit their digital head upon that but i doubt it will stop the spammers.

Admin approval could be useful then.

OK, since you ask. It's too long to answer to and too demanding. If you really want something like that, make it shorter and easier like : "give the title of an Arena album".

"give the title of an Arena album"

Possibly, but that might be too easy. You can find that and copy it with an IQ of 50, and there probably are some intruders who have IQ's that high  :-\

Nicky.

You're right, i didn't.
Just a blatant attempt to be funny on this one.

It happens.

I agree with Bupie on this matter, though i also must add that one question would be way way to easy.
Questions about Arena are nice but anyone can google-up the answers if they want to.
Admin-approval would be the best solution then.

There's also that option that a new member should fill in a certain type of words and numbers [still can't remember how i should call that :-[] but although that would keep out the bots [this option tends to be a disaster for the everyday-bot] it is too easy for the spammers.

So...back to admin-approval then.

I'm still not convinced that my three questions is such a bad idea  :-\

I'd say going through Peter should be sufficient.  We don't want to discourage people who are new to Arena but are genuinely interested, especially if they're proggies in general.  If a spammer wants to go through the trouble of applying through the board moderator and they're not obviously a spammer to Peter, well, we'll find out soon enough, and it's not the end of the world.

I already switched to Admin Approval, which means that I receive an email when somebody wants to register, and if I don't let them in, they won't be in. It's not that great a chore, the influx of souls is not that overwhelming :)

Cap, are there more than the two questions:

The name of Arena's bass player, who left in 1999

The name of Arena's singer, since 2000

I'd think that's enough to stop the dopey intruders.

Nicky.

Yes, there are 5 different questions, and a registrant will have to answer 2, and both correctly, for the registration to pass successfully.
